Wow, This is About as Shocking as When Michael Stipe Came Out

Posted by pixie | Filed under Uncategorized

On Friends Or Enemies, a post just popped up, reading “Breaking News From Pete and Ashlee.” Gee, I wonder what that could be about? Let’s check with my good friends Captain and Mrs. Obvious:

“While many have speculated about this, we wanted to wait until after the first trimester to officially confirm that we are expecting our first child. This is truly the most joyous time in our lives and we are excited to share the happy news and start our family.”

- Pete and Ashlee Wentz

HOLY CRAP! NO WAY! You mean, after all the reports about her pregnancy [which are generally pretty accurate, as celebrity gossip goes] and the rather sudden wedding within a couple of weeks of the pregnancy leak [oh God, that’s a really disgusting combination of words, isn’t it?] — she really is pregnant?

Color me shocked.

Anyway, I’m marking today as the official end of Fall Out Boy. I mean, the band will continue to exist, I’m sure, but there is no way someone who is married to Ashlee Simpson and has a kid with her will ever, ever write something that affected me the way the words to From Under the Cork Tree did. That’s probably a good thing for Pete, to be honest — I don’t know that people really should be in a state of mind where they can churn out albums like that. But still, I’m kind of bummed to know one of my favorite bands is pretty much 100% doomed and the next album will make Infinity on High sound like the freaking White Album.

Surprise, surprise, right? I’m with you about the end of Fall Out Boy, there. They’ll be following Panic at the Disco soon. Panic started being happy, and now we have the catastrophe that is Pretty. Odd. I really hope that Fall Out Boy’s sound doesn’t change that much, because From Under the Cork Tree was amazing. It can’t help them that they’ve resorted to VH1 and a few kids’ shows to help them gain popularity. *sigh*

FOB will have to end soon, before they get old and everyone starts hating them. If Pete starts writing songs about changing diapers, I’m dumping Fall Out Boy forever.
Pretty. Odd. had nothing of the old Panic that I like about it. Where did the techno sound go?

I absolutely adored Panic.
I wasn’t too sure about their new album and after getting it I’m even more put off. It sounds nothing at all like thier other stuff. More like a rip off of the beatles or something. I really miss their old sound. :[ With luck they might bring back at least some of thier old style in a futer album. Can only hope.

I wonder what the first version of the second album — the one that they scrapped last year before starting Pretty.Odd — sounded/sounds like, and if it was any better. I’ve never been much of a Panic!/Panic fan, either way, but I really don’t get why they felt the need to rip off the Beatles’ sound to the extent that they did.

You’re all right about FOB’s end. Ashlee is the equivalent of Yoko Ono. Can’t sing, and ruins good bands.
