First, I have to admit I'm not a regular reader of this blog... I found it doing a google search for Haste The Day album art, and the article title caught my eye so I decided to give it a look. I'm not a huge HTD fan, although I like some of their music so don't think I'm a crazed fanboy or whatever... but I honestly can't believe some of your arguments about how "judgemental" they're being for asking a member of the band to leave.

Let's look at it this way...

"Hi! We're Haste The Day... we're a "Christian Band" yay!" ... Oh look! A member of our band doesn't buy Christianity anymore! That sucks! ... Well, he probably shouldn't be in the band anymore since he doesn't agree with what we have to say... why would anyone want to be part of a group that believes counter to what they believe???

Makes sense to me, yet for some reason you have the audacity to judge them yourselves by making the claim that they are faking sorrow which sounded perfectly legitimate to me. I read nothing about them not liking Jason or wishing he burn in some fiery pit somewhere... they simply asked him to leave a band... like you would do in ANY situation where a member disagreed with a core aspect of a group... shocking.

Okay, really? You have got to be kidding me! I'm Catholic, and I'm not about ready to turn my back on my Jewish friends because they don't believe in Jesus. Honestly, I'm not one of those extremist people who tries to convert everyone I see. Seriously, hiding behind your religion as a reason for kicking your "friend" out of your band is just sad, in a really hilarious sort of way. Here's a summary of their post:

Kicking our guitarist out, sorry--but not really, found a temporary replacement, we already have a new album written without him,

I showed this to my uber christian friend and she fails to see why it's ridiculous. I just laughed. I love when people try to claim being non judgmental but don't actually practice it.

I agree with you completely. It is easy for the band members to say they don't pass judgment, however, their actions speak much louder. They have decided to turn their backs on their "best friend" just because he is still searching for answers.

I have a lot of problems with organized religion, but I like to think that most Christians are more moderate and open, although I am almost always disappointed with what I find.

... which I am not.

I just spent kindergarten through high school in Catholic school as an inquisitive, bisexual, "outcast" who didn't get it. I have no agenda. I don't care what people believe. I just don't want to be told what to believe or judged for what I don't believe.

All of my experiences with Christianity are negative; I don't want it in the scene i found solace and companionship in. And the way this band dismissed their guitarist shows me there is no solace and compassion in Christian "punk."

There isn't an "atheist agenda" unless you're a Dawkins follower.
