New Dance Gavin Dance Songs

Ooh! After all the turmoil and sudden departure of Jonny Craig [seriously, I saw them two days before he left the band and everything seemed fine with them], I was wondering how this band’s new stuff would sound. And now I know: awesome. Kurt Travis’ vocals are really good and while the band does sound different, I might go out on a limb and say they sound better.

There are three new songs on the band’s MySpace: “Me and Zoloft Get Along Just Fine” [hey, good for you, that stuff makes me batshit crazy and led to some of the worst weeks of my life], “The Robot With Human Hair” [oh, man, I love that song title], and “Alex English.” Go listen here.

The band’s new album will be in stores on August 19th [why do we have to wait so long? It’s done, I want it now!] and they’ll be touring with a bunch of good bands including Four Letter Lie this summer. Not that I get to see them, since they aren’t coming anywhere near here. That seems to be the standard for tours these days, though….

It’s good to know there are enough new releases on the slate for this summer/autumn that I should be able to do my standard-issue top 20 this year. I was afraid I’d have a repeat of 2005, where I couldn’t even get 10.
