[Emo] CAT FIGHT!! Endwell vs Emmure
Posted by pixie | Filed under Uncategorized
Well, I guess this isn’t so much emo as sort of metal-hardcore-emo-who the hell knows what cat fight, but it’s still a band cat fight and I find that amusing. Especially since my brain tends to confuse Endwell and Emmure, simply because they follow each other on my iPod.
Let’s see if I can make sense of all of this….
First, Endwell got kicked off the Mosh Lives tour because they had a t-shirt with an image of a decapitated bulldog head. The band says it was meant as a joke, and made a post on their MySpace about being kicked off the tour. It really wasn’t incendiary, it was mostly about being bummed, and the worst thing they wrote was:
Apparently some people can’t take a joke. We were stoked for this tour and looking forward to seeing a lot of old friends and playing some fun shows. without getting into all the details well leave it at this; one of the bands received an ultimatum from a certain someone and the outcome was us being asked to leave the tour.
Okay, so we know what all of this is about, what with Endwell being off Victory Records and Emmure still being on the label, though it is important to note that Endwell did not say what band it was that was “given the ultimatum.” They were really pretty good about it, considering they’d already driven out to meet the tour and promoted it to their fans. They even added:
we wanna thank Recon, After The Burial, Ligeia, Emmure and On Broken Wings for being cool dudes and hopefully well get back out there with a few of you again at some point.
So, that should have been it, right? The band pretty much had to tell their fans they were off the tour… that’s standard-issue stuff in these Internet days. But wait — there’s more.
Emmure clearly couldn’t take Endwell’s post and put up their own response. And they were harsh. Here’s a sample:
This is a respctable tour with respectable bands and band members. This is our tour and us as Emmure must make sure that this tour is not hindered by immaturity since we are responoble for 6 bands 36 people and all their actions.|
Endwell has been surrounded and plauged with bad decision making since day one. As youll recall they were kicked off a bayside tour as well for lack of any morality, respect, or loyalty to the people that were helping them and were supposed to be friends with.
It goes on to talk about how Endwell was psyched to be on Victory early on, and how the two bands were once friends, and all sorts of things, with this little jab in there as well:
After their record bombed to put it gently they started getting pissy and blaming everyone underneath the sun except for themselves which seems to be the trend of that band. And all but 2 members quit.
Saucers of milk for Emmure! The whole thing [click the link above to read it all] is really rough on their supposed friends… especially because of a dopey t-shirt that most people probably wouldn’t have given nearly as much thought to as they have since this whole blow-up. [By the way, how many albums has Emmure sold, anyway? I mean, I like them, but they’re not exactly topping the charts, are they?]
Obviously, Endwell is not content to leave it at this, and now they have responded to the response.
They set some facts straight and made this rather mature statement at the end:
c) as for shit talking: i think emmure did enough of that in their statement which began “Let me first start by saying we as a band have been friends with these guys for a while so this is in no way partial to one side or another” and then proceeded to bash us for 5 paragraphs. i think its obvious that someone was influencing their words.
we don’t have to sit here and ‘tarnish’ anything facts speak for themselves
I think its apparent whose true colors are shining through in this situation.theres nothing else to say. this whole situation sucks, when we left the tour it was all hugs and friendly goodbyes the best way to put it is in the words of John Joseph, “musicians are just assholes waiting to happen”
You can read the whole thing over at their MySpace [linked above]. This kind of reminds me of high school — are they going to meet behind the gym and fight it out? Or can they just deal with the fact that it was a t-shirt and while it may not have been the most mature thing ever… since when is the scene about maturity? And honestly, don’t any of these people have better things to do than bicker and shit-talk via MySpace? Ah well. All’s well that ends well?
