Here’s what is hitting stores today — are you picking anything up off this list?
Children of Bodom - Blooddrunk
Does It Offend You, Yeah? - You Have No Idea What You’re Getting Yourself Into
The Kooks - Konk
M83 - Saturdays = Youth
Phantom Planet - Raise the Dead
Thrice - The Alchemy Index III and IV: Earth and Air
…And we have some DVDs:
Comeback Kid - Live DVD
TSOL - The Early Years Live DVD
I, personally, really like The Kooks’ new album… and I’m interested in Does It Offend You, Yeah? though I haven’t heard it yet. M83 is probably good as well, but I can’t judge until I hear it. I have to be completely honest… I don’t like Thrice. I know this is practically sacrilege in the scene, but that’s just how it goes sometimes. I reserve the right to revise this opinion if the band ever impresses me, but I just don’t see it happening.
I’m kind of bummed out with 2008 so far. 2007 was such a great year for music, and yet, I look at the CD player in my car and it’s loaded up with Say Anything, Silverstein, Bayside, Schoolyard Heroes, Aiden… nothing in 2008 has been able to knock my favorite albums of 2007 out of my car’s CD player. Otherwise, I’ve been listening to Pistolita a lot… Of Montreal… My Chemical Romance, of course… older Fall Out Boy. I’m just not feeling 2008’s offerings at all, and I know I had some “best of 2007″ albums on a list by mid-April last year.
I know things will pick up this summer, with Alkaline Trio and I Am Ghost, plus Bayside has a new one in September… but… come on! Let’s get some killer music out there now! I’m still loving on my old CDs and my 2007 favorites, but I’m always searching for new music and it’s not quite happening this year so far.
